Essential gas mains replacement work taking place at Narrowgate in Alnwick has been completed almost two weeks ahead of schedule.
The work to replace 250 metres of ageing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes began earlier this year.
The road closure on Narrowgate will be reopened by this evening and the team will leave the site as found.
On Monday 21st March road sweepers will ensure the streets are returned to a clean and tidy condition.
Andrew Rodda, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise to local businesses and residents and other members of the public who may have been inconvenienced during our essential mains replacement gas works at Narrowgate, Alnwick, and thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout.”
