Engineers from Northern Gas Networks are continuing to work hard to restore supply to properties in the HX6 postcode (Triangle Village) area of Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire following a pressure-related incident on Wednesday 6 August during a routine operation while carrying out essential gas mains replacement work.

As of 3.00pm this afternoon (Friday 8 August) engineers had restored supply to 168 properties and expect that, access permitting, all remaining customers will have their gas reconnected today.

Wayne Fisher, Customer Operations Area Manager, Northern Gas Networks, said:  “One again we’d like to apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their patience at this time.  We will be working hard to restore the gas supply to all customers affected as soon as possible.

“We will need access to all of the properties affected to turn the gas back and will let customers know when we need to enter their home.  We’ll be continuing to provide regular updates on our progress.”

Northern Gas Networks has set up an incident room in Triangle C of E Primary School on Butterworth Lane, where heaters and hot plates will be available for those who need them while their gas supply is turned off.

If you have any questions please speak to an engineer on site or contact the Customer Care team on 0845 634 0508, option 7.

Anyone who smells gas should call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately, calls are answered at any time of day or night and an engineer will be sent out to assess the situation promptly.
