Mr Hunter is the Deputy Managing Director of Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited. He is also an Executive Director of Power Assets Holdings Limited and a non-Executive Director of Spark Infrastructure Group.
Mr Hunter holds a Master of Arts degree and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mark has held a number of senior appointments in the industry including Equity Partner and Head of Power Distribution at EC Harris, an international built asset consultancy, Strategy and Central Programmes Director at Scottish Power and President and Chief Operating Officer at CE Electric UK. Mark held the post of Chairman of the UK Energy Networks Association from 2004 to 2006, and was Chairman of the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) from 2014 to 2017. He was appointed Non-Executive Director of the EIC in September 2017.

Mr Macrae is Head of International Business for Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited. He joined the Cheung Kong Group in February 2011. He was previously Regional Head of the Infrastructure Group at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. He has more than 17 years experience in the infrastructure investment field.
He holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Pembroke College, University of Oxford.
CloseMr Tsai is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Power Assets Holdings Limited and has been with the Group since June 1987. Mr. Tsai is also a Director or Alternate Director of most of the overseas subsidiaries and certain joint ventures of the Company. Mr. Tsai has been responsible for the Group’s investments outside Hong Kong since 1997.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Chartered Engineer.

CloseJohn Burnham’s career has parallelled the development of the infrastructure finance market. He joined Schroders from Cambridge University in 1976, became a Director in 1989, lived in both Singapore and Hong Kong as well as London and rose to become global Head of Project Finance and Infrastructure Privatisation. The takeover by Citigroup came in 2000 and John insisted on retiring in 2008, at which time he was global Head of Infrastructure.
Since retirement John has advised the Crown Estate on Offshore Energy, assisted the Government with the start up of the Green Investment Bank and taught a course to MFin and MBA students on Infrastructure Finance at Cambridge University. At present he is Chairman of three construction phase PPP infrastructure funds, a Director of Northern Gas Networks, and is Chairman of IFM’s Global Infrastructure Fund. Once a year he chairs the business discussions at the Infrastructure Leaders Gathering of infrastructure investors.
ClosePaul Rogerson has been an independent Non-Executive Director of Northern Gas Networks (NGN) since 2014.
Paul was Chief Executive of Leeds City Council between 1999 and 2010, and is currently Vice Chair of national medical research charity Heart Research UK and Vice Chair of the Board of Leeds Trinity University.
Paul has degrees in law and economics from Manchester University and has taught at universities in the UK and USA before switching to legal practice some years ago.
Paul was awarded a CBE in 2007 and appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire in 2010.

CloseAlex O’Connell is a Solicitor and holds a BA Hons degree in Law from Oxford University. Alex joined Northern Gas Networks in April 2009, having previously worked in private practice. He was appointed Company Secretary on 1 March 2019 and Legal Director in April 2019. Outside of work Alex has a range of interests including following the fortunes (or misfortunes) of Preston North End FC.
CloseLindsey graduated with a degree in Law and a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management, starting her HR career with Philips Electronics on their Graduate scheme.
Lindsey has now worked in HR for over 20 years moving from Philips Electronics to manufacturing with Tetley Tea and then into Financial Services. She has spent 15 years with Santander working in a variety of HR roles including Business Partnering, Organisational Design and Talent and then ultimately becoming the Head of HR for the Santander Services Business.
CloseAs Head of Asset Integrity Iain primary focus is to ensure that NGN’s field operations are compliant and operate within current Legislative, Safety & Engineering Policy and Procedures. Iain’s team also provide the Supply Assurance activities around the delivery of gas to our Customers.
Iain started his career with British Gas Northern in 1986 as an Apprentice Distribution Craftsman. Since then Iain has held a variety of management roles across Operations and Asset Management and is a qualified Chartered Engineer. He also represents NGN on senior IGEM committees and is a board member of UKOPA – United Kingdom Pipeline Association.
Iain enjoys a challenge aided by his passion to try something new and has a wide range of interests outside of work including keeping fit, playing golf and spending time with his family.

Tim has around 40 years’ experience in the gas industry, holding a wide range of operational and project roles covering gas distribution and transmission. Tim is responsible for overseeing the planning of maintenance, major projects, gas mains replacement and gas connections activities. He is also Northern Gas Networks’ strategic lead on hydrogen conversion programme, H21, which is looking at the role of hydrogen as a low cost, low carbon heat source. Tim previously held the roles of Head of Capital Projects, Head of Maintenance and Programme Manager for Major Projects. Before joining Northern Gas Networks, Tim worked for National Grid Transmission for eight years where he held a number of senior roles including Pipeline Engineer, Project Delivery Engineer and Engineering Manager.
CloseMatthew Little joined Northern Gas Networks (NGN) in 2007, working in the IT team as a Project Manager and was appointed to the Senior Management Team in 2015 and became Director of Innovation, Improvement and Information (3IG) in 2016. In this role Matthew is responsible for the operation and support of NGN’s IT systems and for the delivery of innovation and improvements using accelerated delivery techniques, such as Agile, Lean and Kanban.
Prior to joining NGN Matthew worked for the Department of Work and Pensions as a Business Analyst.
He studied history at Lancaster University and outside of work enjoys playing golf and following the decline of Leeds United.
CloseGareth joined Northern Gas Networks in August 2005. He has over 20 years’ experience in the Energy and Utilities industry in the UK.
Gareth began his career as an economic adviser to the UK government on energy related issues before progressing through senior regulatory and commercial roles at National Grid, Yorkshire Water and British Nuclear Fuels. Gareth has a BA (Hons) Economics and MSc Energy Economics from the University of Surrey.
CloseKaren was appointed to Northern Gas Networks (NGN) in June 2017 as Head of Connections. Previously Developer Services Manager at Yorkshire Water, she brings a wealth of knowledge in the new connections arena, along with strong project and change management skills. With a background in sectors as diverse as politics and engineering, she has experience of delivering key projects for government and industry.
Ian began working for Northern Gas Networks (NGN) as it was back in 1979 as an Apprentice Gas Distribution Craftsmen. Since then he has become a qualified engineer have gained a BEng (hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering and various other professional qualifications, including a NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Ian has worked in a variety of roles across the business and became Head of Customer Operations in 2017.
Ian has a passion for delivering a safe, economically sustainable and reliable customer centric service to NGN’s customers, by leading a team of committed colleagues responding to any reported gas escape. He has a wide range of interests which he enjoys with his family, including skiing, walking and motorcycling

David was appointed to the role of Finance Director in December 2012, having previously headed up Corporate Services since joining the company in January 2006. David is a Chartered Accountant and has around 20 years’ experience in the energy industry.
David joined the company from National Grid and prior to that he was a Director at Deloitte and also Head of Taxation at Yorkshire Electricity. David trained in the accountancy profession in Yorkshire before working for several multi-nationals including The BOC Group in London before returning back to the north.
CloseJohn started his career in 1990 with British Gas as an Apprentice Distribution Craftsperson. He has held a wide range of management positions across the business and was appointed as Head of Operations Delivery in 2018. John and his team are responsible for the delivery of Northern Gas Networks’ pipe overhaul programme to modernise the network, installing new connections and carrying out repair work.
John is passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience and a safe and reliable service with minimal interruptions to supplies.
Outside of work, John enjoys walking, cycling and snowboarding with his family.
CloseStephen joined Northern Gas Networks in 2005 to lead work on the first gas distribution price control. Subsequently he led work on the RIIO-GD1 price control and has overall responsibility for regulatory strategy and compliance for the business.
He has over 35 years’ experience in the energy industry and previously worked in senior regulatory and procurement roles at United Utilities, Npower and Yorkshire Electricity.
Outside of work his interests are golf, chess and Featherstone Rovers RLFC.
CloseRoger began his career as an apprentice mains layer for British Gas. During his time at British Gas he qualified as a chartered gas engineer and more recently worked for Scottish Power as the Managing Director of the company’s commercial connections business.
Roger was appointed to the position of Commercial Director in 2015 where he heads up the Commercial Services Team which includes Northern Gas Networks’ (NGN) Commercial and Procurement teams.
He also leads the delivery of our mains replacement program and the Major Capital Projects and Asset Maintenance teams. Roger is responsible for ensuring that every investment decision delivers maximum benefits for NGN, our customers and employees, and that outstanding levels of customer service and safety are achieved throughout the delivery of our capital and replacement programs.

Stephen joined Northern Gas Networks in 2005 to lead work on the first gas distribution price control. Subsequently he led work on the RIIO-GD1 price control and has overall responsibility for regulatory strategy and compliance for the business.
He has over 35 years’ experience in the energy industry and previously worked in senior regulatory and procurement roles at United Utilities, Npower and Yorkshire Electricity.
Outside of work his interests are golf, chess and Featherstone Rovers RLFC.
CloseRoger began his career as an apprentice mains layer for British Gas. During his time at British Gas he qualified as a chartered gas engineer and more recently worked for Scottish Power as the Managing Director of the company’s commercial connections business.
Roger was appointed to the position of Commercial Director in 2015 where he heads up the Commercial Services Team which includes Northern Gas Networks’ (NGN) Commercial and Procurement teams.
He also leads the delivery of our mains replacement program and the Major Capital Projects and Asset Maintenance teams. John Burnham’s career has parallelled the development of the infrastructure finance market. He joined Schroders from Cambridge University in 1976, became a Director in 1989, lived in both Singapore and Hong Kong as well as London and rose to become global Head of Project Finance and Infrastructure Privatisation. The takeover by Citigroup came in 2000 and John insisted on retiring in 2008, at which time he was global Head of Infrastructure.
Since retirement John has advised the Crown Estate on Offshore Energy, assisted the Government with the start up of the Green Investment Bank and taught a course to MFin and MBA students on Infrastructure Finance at Cambridge University. At present he is Chairman of three construction phase PPP infrastructure funds, a Director of Northern Gas Networks, and is Chairman of IFM’s Global Infrastructure Fund. Once a year he chairs the business discussions at the Infrastructure Leaders Gathering of infrastructure investors.

As Head of Asset Integrity Iain primary focus is to ensure that NGN’s field operations are compliant and operate within current Legislative, Safety & Engineering Policy and Procedures. Iain’s team also provide the Supply Assurance activities around the delivery of gas to our Customers.
Iain started his career with British Gas Northern in 1986 as an Apprentice Distribution Craftsman. Since then Iain has held a variety of management roles across Operations and Asset Management and is a qualified Chartered Engineer. He also represents NGN on senior IGEM committees and is a board member of UKOPA – United Kingdom Pipeline Association.
Iain enjoys a challenge aided by his passion to try something new and has a wide range of interests outside of work including keeping fit, playing golf and spending time with his family.
CloseTim has around 40 years’ experience in the gas industry, holding a wide range of operational and project roles covering gas distribution and transmission. Tim is responsible for overseeing the planning of maintenance, major projects, gas mains replacement and gas connections activities. He is also Northern Gas Networks’ strategic lead on hydrogen conversion programme, H21, which is looking at the role of hydrogen as a low cost, low carbon heat source. Tim previously held the roles of Head of Capital Projects, Head of Maintenance and Programme Manager for Major Projects. Before joining Northern Gas Networks, Tim worked for National Grid Transmission for eight years where he held a number of senior roles including Pipeline Engineer, Project Delivery Engineer and Engineering Manager.

Matthew Little joined Northern Gas Networks (NGN) in 2007, working in the IT team as a Project Manager and was appointed to the Senior Management Team in 2015 and became Director of Innovation, Improvement and Information (3IG) in 2016. In this role Matthew is responsible for the operation and support of NGN’s IT systems and for the delivery of innovation and improvements using accelerated delivery techniques, such as Agile, Lean and Kanban.
Prior to joining NGN Matthew worked for the Department of Work and Pensions as a Business Analyst.
He studied history at Lancaster University and outside of work enjoys playing golf and following the decline of Leeds United.

CloseTim Harwood
Head of Programme Management
Tim has around 40 years’ experience in the gas industry, holding a wide range of operational and project roles covering gas distribution and transmission. Tim is responsible for overseeing the planning of maintenance, major projects, gas mains replacement and gas connections activities. He is also Northern Gas Networks’ strategic lead on hydrogen conversion programme, H21, which is looking at the role of hydrogen as a low cost, low carbon heat source. Tim previously held the roles of Head of Capital Projects, Head of Maintenance and Programme Manager for Major Projects. Before joining Northern Gas Networks, Tim worked for National Grid Transmission for eight years where he held a number of senior roles including Pipeline Engineer, Project Delivery Engineer and Engineering Manager.
CloseMatthew Little
Director of Innovation, Improvement and Information (3iG)
Matthew Little joined Northern Gas Networks (NGN) in 2007, working in the IT team as a Project Manager and was appointed to the Senior Management Team in 2015 and became Director of Innovation, Improvement and Information (3IG) in 2016. In this role Matthew is responsible for the operation and support of NGN’s IT systems and for the delivery of innovation and improvements using accelerated delivery techniques, such as Agile, Lean and Kanban.
Prior to joining NGN Matthew worked for the Department of Work and Pensions as a Business Analyst.
He studied history at Lancaster University and outside of work enjoys playing golf and following the decline of Leeds United.
CloseGareth Mills
Regulation and Strategic Planning Director
Gareth joined Northern Gas Networks in August 2005. He has over 20 years’ experience in the Energy and Utilities industry in the UK.
Gareth began his career as an economic adviser to the UK government on energy related issues before progressing through senior regulatory and commercial roles at National Grid, Yorkshire Water and British Nuclear Fuels. Gareth has a BA (Hons) Economics and MSc Energy Economics from the University of Surrey.

Karen was appointed to Northern Gas Networks (NGN) in June 2017 as Head of Connections. Previously Developer Services Manager at Yorkshire Water, she brings a wealth of knowledge in the new connections arena, along with strong project and change management skills. With a background in sectors as diverse as politics and engineering, she has experience of delivering key projects for government and industry.
Ian Waddle
Head of Customer Operations Support
Ian began working for Northern Gas Networks (NGN) as it was back in 1979 as an Apprentice Gas Distribution Craftsmen. Since then he has become a qualified engineer have gained a BEng (hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering and various other professional qualifications, including a NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Ian has worked in a variety of roles across the business and became Head of Customer Operations in 2017.
Ian has a passion for delivering a safe, economically sustainable and reliable customer centric service to NGN’s customers, by leading a team of committed colleagues responding to any reported gas escape. He has a wide range of interests which he enjoys with his family, including skiing, walking and motorcycling
CloseDavid Waite
Finance Director
David was appointed to the role of Finance Director in December 2012, having previously headed up Corporate Services since joining the company in January 2006. David is a Chartered Accountant and has around 20 years’ experience in the energy industry.
David joined the company from National Grid and prior to that he was a Director at Deloitte and also Head of Taxation at Yorkshire Electricity. David trained in the accountancy profession in Yorkshire before working for several multi-nationals including The BOC Group in London before returning back to the north.

Head of Operations Delivery
John started his career in 1990 with British Gas as an Apprentice Distribution Craftsperson. He has held a wide range of management positions across the business and was appointed as Head of Operations Delivery in 2018. John and his team are responsible for the delivery of Northern Gas Networks’ pipe overhaul programme to modernise the network, installing new connections and carrying out repair work.
John is passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience and a safe and reliable service with minimal interruptions to supplies.
Outside of work, John enjoys walking, cycling and snowboarding with his family.
CloseStephen Parker
Corporate Regulatory & Governance Director
Stephen joined Northern Gas Networks in 2005 to lead work on the first gas distribution price control. Subsequently he led work on the RIIO-GD1 price control and has overall responsibility for regulatory strategy and compliance for the business.
He has over 35 years’ experience in the energy industry and previously worked in senior regulatory and procurement roles at United Utilities, Npower and Yorkshire Electricity.
Outside of work his interests are golf, chess and Featherstone Rovers RLFC.
CloseRoger Willey
Commercial and Procurement Director
Roger began his career as an apprentice mains layer for British Gas. During his time at British Gas he qualified as a chartered gas engineer and more recently worked for Scottish Power as the Managing Director of the company’s commercial connections business.
Roger was appointed to the position of Commercial Director in 2015 where he heads up the Commercial Services Team which includes Northern Gas Networks’ (NGN) Commercial and Procurement teams.
He also leads the delivery of our mains replacement program and the Major Capital Projects and Asset Maintenance teams. Roger is responsible for ensuring that every investment decision delivers maximum benefits for NGN, our customers and employees, and that outstanding levels of customer service and safety are achieved throughout the delivery of our capital and replacement programs.
