The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is celebrating after its Tees Construction Services team won a Bronze award at Thursday’s Considerate Constructor Scheme ceremony in London.

Since 1999, the Scheme has been rewarding the UK’s most considerate sites for the contribution they have made towards improving the image of construction. The Scheme looks at the measures a site has put in place to be more considerate towards local neighbourhoods and the public, the workforce, and the environment.

NGN’s site at Lingdale near Saltburn-By-The-Sea earned a Bronze award for the project to install 4km of new plastic gas main connecting three remote villages on the North York Moors.

Inspectors scored the site managed by Alan Walker 39 marks out of 50, praising the measures taken to ensure minimal impact on the environment and liaise with the local community.
The executive report stated: “The contractor has embraced energy-saving measures in the site accommodation.
“The lasting impression that the site team wish to leave on completion is their pride in having a job professionally undertaken of high-quality completed on time.”

Dean Shepherdson, Head of Construction Services for NGN added: “We’re constantly striving to improve our performance in all five elements: safety, community, environment, workforce and appearance.

“To win these awards is testament to the hard work of our team. If our sites are being recognised as minimising impact on customers then we’re delivering the best experience we possibly can.”

NGN is dedicated to maintaining its high standards on site, both for its customers and contractors. The company is constantly monitoring best practice and in doing so, regularly improving its processes and site efficiency.
