The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing around £15,000 to upgrade ageing metal gas mains at Leads Road, Hull.

The essential project is part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the area’s gas infrastructure and will involve replacing 25 metres of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Hull for years to come.

The five-day project, which will begin on Thursday 13 April 2017, has been carefully planned in conjunction with Hull City Council to take place during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in order to minimise disruption.

Engineers will be working from Thursday to Monday between 8am and 5pm.

Due to the location of the gas main and in order to carry out the works safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to introduce temporary two-way traffic signals for five days whilst we undertake these essential works.

Cranswick Country Foods will remain open as normal whilst we undertake these works.

NGN’s Customer Care Officers have been door-knocking local homes and businesses to make customers aware of the project, while on-site signage will advise motorists of the work taking place.

Robert Hope, Construction Services Area Manager for Northern Gas Networks said: “We have worked closely with the Hull City Council to carefully plan these works and will be doing all we can to minimise disruption to customers.

“We will endeavour to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible and will keep customers updated if there are any delays.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these works and thank everyone for their patience and support while we carry out this essential upgrade.”
