The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is making a significant investment to replace the ageing gas main at Edgerton Road in Huddersfield.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in Huddersfield, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come and is due to complete in March 2019.

In order to carry out the work safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to introduce traffic management from 7 January 2019 until 10 February 2019.

The existing four-way lights at the junction of Edgerton Road will be replaced with temporary three-way lights on Blacker Road, Edgerton Road and New North Road.

In addition, a road closure will be placed on Edgerton Grove Road, with a fully signed diversion route taking motorists to the A640 Trinity Street, Fitzwilliam Street and the A629 New North Road.

NGN’s Customer Care team have kept customers updated on progress throughout the project, and will continue to provide updates as the work continues.

Chris Nevison, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these works, and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting them completed as quickly as possible”.

For further information about the project please contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or email: customercare@northerngas.co.uk.
