The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £129k to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in and around the Westfield Lane area of Idle in Bradford.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in Bradford and is due to start on the 7th of January and last for approximately ten weeks.  The scheme will involve replacing 542 metres of old metallic pipe for new durable plastic pipe, this is to ensure the safe supply of gas for years to come.

To complete the works safely and efficiently we will have the following traffic management in place:

A road closure will be in place on Westfield Lane junction with High Street, this will be in place from the 7/1/2019 for three weeks. A full signed diversion will be in place for motorists.

Four way traffic lights on the junction of Westfield Lane/ Highfield Road and High Street from 28/01/2019 for approximately two weeks. This will then move to two way lights on high Street for approximately two weeks from 11/02/2019.

The traffic lights will then return to four way lights on the roundabout, High street/ New Street/ Idlecroft Road for approximately two weeks starting 24/02/19.

Our dedicated Community Care Officer has been in local area speaking with businesses and residents to make them aware of the upcoming works.

Anna Mycoe, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these works, and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting them completed as quickly as possible”.
