The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £50,000 to upgrade the gas distribution network in the Millbridge area of Liversedge.

The project, which will begin on Monday 22 July and is expected to complete on 16 August, involves replacing old metallic gas mains with new, more durable plastic pipes. This is to ensure the safe, continued and reliable supply of gas to customers in Liversedge for years to come.

To ensure the safety of NGN engineering teams and members of the public, it will be necessary to introduce some traffic management during the works.

From Monday 22 July until 16 August, the existing Millbridge traffic lights will be temporarily replaced with four-way traffic signals to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

From Monday 22 July until 16 August, access to the A649 Halifax Road will be closed at Millbridge lights, with traffic only able to exit out on to the A62 Leeds Road. A full signed diversion will be in place for motorists and other road users to follow.

It’s expected that journey times will be increased because of the traffic management in place, so all motorists and commuters are advised to leave extra time for travel.

NGN’s Customer Care team will be on site throughout the project to provide updates to affected businesses and residents. Updates will also be posted on Facebook/northerngasnetworks and @NGNgas as well as Kirklees Council’s channels.
