£41K upgrade to Bradford gas distribution network

The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £41,000 to upgrade the ageing metal gas distribution network in Bolton Lane, Bradford.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing 50m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which will start on Monday 21 November and last approximately two weeks with an estimated completion date of 5 December, has been planned in conjunction with Bradford Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

In order to complete the work safely and efficiently, a number of traffic management measures will be in place. There will be a road closure introduced on Bolton Lane at the junction of Kings Road, resulting in a no right-hand turn on to Bolton Lane for motorists, with a fully-signed diversion in place.

The inside lanes on Kings Road will also be closed near to the junction of Bolton Lane.  All traffic management will be in place from Monday 21 November for around two weeks.

Any bus stops within the works will be suspended and temporary stands provided.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and engineers will be working Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.

£32K upgrade to Thornton gas distribution network

The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £32,000 to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in West Lane, Thornton.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing around 120m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which began on Monday 17 October and is expected to last three weeks with an estimated completion date of 7 November, has been planned in conjunction with Bradford Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

In order to complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible a number of traffic management measures will be in place.

A road closure will be introduced from the junction of Hillcrest Road to the junction of James Street from Monday 24 October for around two weeks.  A diversion route will be in place and all bus companies have been notified of this.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and engineers will be working Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.

Road closure at East Boldon due to essential gas repair work

Engineers from Northern Gas Networks (NGN) will begin essential repair work on the gas distribution system at Railway Cottages, East Boldon on Friday 21 October 2016.

Gas supply to customers will not be affected, however in order to carry out the work as safely and efficiently as possible it will be necessary to close part of Tile Shed Lane to traffic for three days.

Tile Shed Lane will be closed from the junction of the B1298 New Road and Boldon Lane eastbound, over Tile Shed level crossing and down to Tile Shed Crossing Cottages.

This section of the road will be closed to vehicle traffic both ways.

Access to Tile Shed Lane from Cleadon will be open to residents only, from the Cleadon Lane junction down to Tile Shed crossing.

The road closure will come into effect at 9.30am and is expected to be removed by Monday 24 October. The railway line and train services will not be affected and a fully signed diversion will be in place for motorists.

NGN has been working closely with Network Rail and South Tyneside Council to plan the project and minimise disruption to customers.

£312K upgrade to Halifax gas distribution network

The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £312,000 to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in Ovenden Road and Mill Lane, Halifax.

This major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing 600m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The scheme, which will begin on Monday 24 October and last approximately 14 weeks, is being delivered in two phases and has been planned in conjunction with Calderdale Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

The first phase of works will begin on Ovenden Road at the junction of Old Lane on Monday 24 October and last around nine weeks.

During this phase there will be temporary traffic signals placed directly on Ovenden Road, moving along in 100m sections until all works on Ovenden Road are complete. These lights will alternate between two–way and three – way signals where necessary, and will be manually operated between 7am and 9pm as requested by the highways authority.

The pedestrian crossing adjacent to Hamza’s Take away will be temporarily suspended whilst the works are taking place. Parking bays may also need to be temporarily suspended on Ovenden Road but this will be clearly signed and displayed to motorists when required.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and engineers will be working from Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm and alternate weekends.

The second phase of the scheme will begin on Mill Lane the week commencing Monday 2 January 2017, and in order to carry out the work as safely and efficiently as possible, a temporary road closure will be in place. More details on this phase will be provided closer to the time.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing around 600m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which will begin on Monday 31 October and last approximately six weeks with an estimated finish date of 9 December, has been planned in conjunction with North Yorkshire Highways Authority to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

The first phase will begin at the junction of Tinley Garth and West End on Monday 31 October and last around four weeks. During this phase there will be three-way temporary traffic lights at the junction of Tinley Garth to outside of 85 West End, which will remain in place for one week, starting on 31 October.

A road closure will also be introduced on West End from Monday 31 October for four weeks. During this time access will be maintained for residents and deliveries. All bus routes via West End will be diverted through West Lund, A170 back to the original route on Market Place.

Works will then move to Manor Close on Monday 28 November for two weeks until the project is complete.

Engineers will be working from Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and involves replacing 740m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which begins on Monday 31 October and is expected to last around four weeks with an estimated completion date of 25 November, has been planned in conjunction with Leeds City Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

To carry out the project safely and efficiently, a road closure will be in place on Templar Gardens at the junction of Deighton Road from 21 November until 2 December.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and engineers will be working from Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm.

£52K upgrade to Featherstone gas distribution network

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing 90m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The scheme which will start on Saturday 22 October and last approximately one week with an estimated completion date of 30 October, has been planned in conjunction with Wakefield Council to ensure all works are carried out with as little disruption as possible.

The project will begin on Ackworth Road at the junction of Hall Street, and in order to complete the works as safely and efficiently as possible, traffic management measures will be in place.

There will be a road closure introduced on Ackworth Road at the junction of Hall Street from Saturday 22 October to Sunday 30 October, however vehicular access for residents will be maintained throughout the works.

Three-way temporary traffic signals will also be in place on Pontefract Road at the junction of Hall Street from Saturday 22 October to Sunday 30 November, manually operated during peak times to minimise traffic disruption.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and engineers will be working from Monday to Sunday between 8am and 5pm.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing around 660m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which will begin on Monday 24 October and last approximately six weeks, has been planned in conjunction with North Yorkshire County Council Highways to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption to customers as possible.

Works will be begin outside of Middlecave School and work down towards the junction of Mount Crescent.

During this time, all students and parents will be directed to use the school drop-off and pick-up point at the Malton Community Sports Centre entrance on Broughton Road until the project is complete.

This will mean the school bus will also be redirected to the drop-off and pick-up point on Broughton Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and engineers will be working Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.

NGN teams up with Auriga to help vulnerable customers in Cumbria

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has teamed up with welfare and debt advice service Auriga Assist this autumn, for a joint initiative aimed at alleviating money worries for vulnerable customers in Cumbria.

Reducing fuel poverty and educating around fuel awareness are key community promises of the gas transporter, whose network covers the north of England, northern Cumbria and most of Yorkshire.

As the need for good quality debt advice continues to grow, Auriga Assist provides free, confidential, independent and impartial assistance to customers of the utility companies they partner.

Working one-to-one, Auriga provides budgeting advice, a benefits check, help with applying for grants and support with bills and tariff switches.

NGN’s Customer Care team in Cumbria is now advising vulnerable customers to contact the free service or with the customer’s permission, asking Auriga to contact them.

Essential upgrade to Linthwaite gas distribution network

The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £160,000 to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network at Manchester Road in Linthwaite, Huddersfield.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing more than a kilometre of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which will begin on Monday 24 October and last around 12 weeks, has been planned in conjunction with Kirklees Council Highways Authority to ensure all works are carried out with as little disruption to customers as possible. Customer Care officers have doorknocked local businesses to make them aware of the work and provide detailed information.

Engineers will begin the scheme on Bargate on 24 October, and in order to carry out this section of work as safely and efficiently as possible, traffic management measures will be necessary.

The existing traffic lights at the junction of Bargate and Manchester Road will be suspended, and five-way temporary signals put in place for one week. These will be manually operated at peak times to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

The second stage of works will take place on Royds Avenue from 31 October, and this phase is expected to last around two weeks, with no traffic management required.

The third stage  will be begin on Monday 14 November, with engineers working at the junction of Manchester Road and The Riverside, moving back towards the junction of Royds Avenue.

Temporary two-way lights will be in place during this phase, which will move up Manchester Road as work progresses throughout the rest of November and December, manually operated at peak times.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times with engineers working Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, with additional weekend work where required. Work will be temporarily paused during the Christmas period before the project is completed in early January 2017.
