Essential upgrade to the Wincolmlee area of Hull

The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £475,000 to upgrade to the gas distribution network in Wincolmlee area of Hull.

The project will begin on the Monday the 4th of February and is planned to finish on the 22nd of April. The works are part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and involves replacing 440m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.

The complete the works safely the following road closure will be in place; from the junction of Station Drive cycle track to junction of Fountain Road. This will remain in place for the full duration of the works. A full signed diversion will be in place for motorists, please allow for extra travel time.

All works have been planned in conjunction with Hull City Council.  Dave Johnson, Site Manager said “We would like to thank all our customers for their patience whilst we complete these essential works. We are sorry for the inconvenience the works will cause’’.

Northern Gas Networks calls for customers to help shape the future of their gas network

Stakeholder engagement continues to be an essential part of what Northern Gas Networks (NGN) does. The gas distribution network’s stakeholders continue help to guide strategic decision making, and work with NGN day-to-day on a wide range of partnership programmes, which are making a difference in local communities.

From this January, to help shape its business plan for 2021 NGN is asking customers to have their say as part of its ‘together, we are the network’ campaign.

NGN’s next business plan will set out how the company will invest bill payer’s money from 2021 onwards to ensure that the needs of its 6.7 million customers and future customers, including the most vulnerable, are truly reflected in the services they receive.

The gas distribution network has also launched a new consultation and engagement microsite together.northerngasnetworks.co.uk and will be organising a range of activities over the coming months to make it easy for people to get involved and ensure that customers and stakeholders get the chance to shape the content of this plan.

NGN is marking the launch of the campaign with its BIG survey, a short online questionnaire on its services, and giving people the chance to win prizes for taking part*.

The BIG survey will help the business to listen to and understand views on the services that it provides as it strives to continue to deliver outstanding customer experiences, innovate to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas now and for years to come and make a positive difference to the communities it serves.

Essential gas mains repair work on Holwell Road, Hull

Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the North of England’s gas distributer, will begin essential gas mains repair work at Holwell Road, Hull starting Monday 21 January.

Engineers have been closely monitoring a controlled gas escape at the roundabout on Holwell Road, and will be carrying out repairs to the pipe. Gas supply to neighbouring properties will not be affected.

The work is expected to last for approximately two weeks, having been carefully planned with Hull City Council to minimise disruption to road users.

In order to for engineers to complete the repair as safely and as quickly as possible, some traffic management has been introduced.

Temporary lane closures have been placed on the inside lane of the Holwell Road roundabout, and on the outside lane of Holwell Road.

It’s expected the works will extend journey times, so motorists are advised to leave extra time for travel whilst the temporary lane closures are in place.

Essential upgrade to gas distribution network in Market Weighton

The North of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £350,000 to upgrade the gas distribution network in Spring Road, Market Weighton.

The project is part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the area’s gas infrastructure to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.

It has been carefully planned in conjunction with East Riding Council to minimise any disruption caused.

Work began on Monday 7 January and is scheduled to last for approximately 13 weeks.  In order for the works to be carried out safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to implement some traffic management during this first phase.

Temporary three-way traffic lights will be introduced on Spring Road and Finkle Street for approximately one week from Monday 4 February. Three-way lights will be placed on Londesborough Road from Monday 25th February, and will be in position for around three weeks.

It’s expected these works will extend journey times, so motorists are advised to leave extra time for travel whilst the temporary traffic signals are in place.

NGN’s Customer Care Officers have been door-knocking residents and businesses to make customers aware of the project while on-site signage will advise motorists of the work taking place. Regular updates will also be available on NGN’s website northerngasnetworks.co.uk, Twitter @NGNgas and Facebook @northerngasnetworks.

Shops and businesses in the area will remain open as usual throughout the project.

Essential gas mains replacement work on Queen Alexandra Road, Sunderland

Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the North of England’s gas distributor, will begin essential gas mains replacement work on Queen Alexandra Road and Ashbrooke Range, Sunderland Monday 21st January until Friday 15th February.

Engineers have been closely monitoring a controlled gas escape on Queen Alexandra Road, Sunderland and will be carrying out work to replace the gas main.

The work has been carefully planned in collaboration with Sunderland City Council to minimise disruption to customers and road users. In order for engineers to complete the work as safely and quickly as possible, temporary traffic lights will be used on Queen Alexandra Road, Glen Path and Ashbrooke Range. The traffic lights will follow the work.

Essential upgrade to gas distribution network at Gowdall Road, Gowdall

The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £38,000 to upgrade to the gas distribution network in Gowdall Road area of Gowdall.

 

The project will begin on the 21st of January and is planned to finish on the 11th of February. The works are part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and involves replacing 32m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.

 

To complete the work safely the following road closure will be in place; Gowdall Road will be closed for a 50m section opposite Oakland Waters.  A full signed diversion will be in place for motorists and access to Oakland Waters will be maintained.  Our customer care officer has been on site to speak with the affected businesses in the area.

The project has been carefully planned in conjunction with East Riding of Yorkshire Council to minimise any disruption caused.

Work will begin on Monday 4 February 2019 and is scheduled to last for approximately 15 weeks.  In order for works to be carried out safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to introduce a road closure on a section of Quay Road for the full duration of the project.

The road closure will be in place on Quay Road from the junction of Moorfield Road to Prospect Streetm with a signed diversion route in place for motorists.

It’s expected these works will extend journey times, so motorists are advised to leave extra time for travel whilst the road closure is in place.

The North of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), will be investing £175, 000 to upgrade the gas distribution network at York Road, Knaresborough.

The project is part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the gas infrastructure in the area to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project has been carefully planned in conjunction with North Yorkshire County Council to minimise any disruption caused.

Works started on Monday 7 January 2019 and are scheduled to last for approximately twelve weeks.  In order for works to be carried out safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to implement various traffic management measures at various stages throughout the duration of works.

During the first phase of works, temporary 2-way traffic lights will be in situ on Chain Lane   The traffic lights will be in place at the junction of Mayfield Grove and will progress down Chain Lane towards York Lane.

During the ninth week of works, which will be week commencing Monday 11 March 2019, four-way traffic signals will be in place at the junction of York Road and York Lane.

On the tenth week of works, week commencing Monday 18 March 2019, four-way traffic lights will be in place on York Road.  During week eleven, from Monday 25 March 2019, four-way traffic signals will be in situ on York Road at the junction of Chain Lane.

It’s expected these works will extend journey times, so motorists are advised to leave extra time for travel whilst the temporary traffic signals are in place.

NGN’s Customer Care Officers have been door-knocking local residents and businesses to make customers aware of the work, while on-site signage will advise motorists of the work taking place. Essential upgrade to gas distribution network, Skipton

The north of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £47k to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in and around the Skipton area.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in Skipton and is due to start on the 7th of January and last for approximately four weeks.  The scheme will involve replacing 69 metres of old metallic pipe for new durable plastic pipe, this is to ensure the safe supply of gas for years to come.

To complete the works safely and efficiently we will have the following traffic management in place:

Phase 1 – 07/01/2019 – Road Closure – Outside Sports Direct to the J/o Coach Street – Approximately two weeks.

Phase 2 – 21/01/2019 –  Road Closure – Outside Bizzie Lizzies Fish & Chips shop to the J/o Belmont Wharfe – Approximately two weeks. A full signed diversion will be in place for motorists.

Our dedicated Community Care Officer has been in the local area speaking with affected businesses and residents to make them aware of upcoming works. A public drop in session was held for local residents.
